Global Trace-Base (GTB) is a centralised data system. It was developed by Global Standard gGmbH for managing Scope Certificate (SC) and Transaction Certificate (TC) information in GOTS-certified supply chains:
- SCs show entity compliance with GOTS criteria and their ability to produce GOTS-certified goods.
- TCs list the actual goods being sold.
GTB aims to bring greater transparency as well as enable traceability and fraud prevention in the textile industry, covering the entire value chain from first processors to retailers, from field to fashion.
It delivers value to Certification Bodies (CBs) and Certified Entities (CEs) by putting the focus on certified supply chains, end-to-end paths and new sources of sustainability data. GTB fulfils this goal by gathering, processing and packaging certification information automatically via APIs (system-to-system) and data imports, or manually through the GTB Portal Interface.
A few examples of certification data include:
- Process categories
- Product categories
- Product details
- Material composition
- Label grade
GTB development work started in 2021 as a collaborative effort between Global Standard and Volavis GmbH, a technology service provider based in Germany. The technology foundations were based on and keep on expanding thanks to meaningful and regular feedback from CB and CE users.
Moreover, GTB is continuously evolving as a coherent, consistent and compliant technology to better adapt to the changing regulatory frameworks in textile supply chains, to effectively align with industry requirements and to successfully meet future sustainability challenges.
